Oral Language Centre

We believe in the importance of developing the Oral Language of our students as a basis for further Literacy development.  The Prep–2 children visit our Oral Language Centre each week.

The children are involved in experiences that stimulate and encourage creative thinking and speaking and listening skills through play.  The children are involved in story telling, role playing and conversations with their peers. We also focus on using writing strategies to enhance their stories by using similes, power of 3, alliterations and onomatopoeia when writing and telling their stories. The children develop their communication skills, expression, appropriate speaking voices, and body language all through play and sharing with each other. We also enjoy various stories, songs and poems together as a whole class and small groups.

The Oral Language Centre is a very popular place to visit for our grade Prep – 2 students.
